This is an unpaid internship; however, you will put your education into action while learning real, marketable skills with a growing company that is hiring. You’ll participate in team projects, social events, volunteer work, and professional development training.
This is a part-time (8 – 10 hours per week) unpaid internship with rolling start dates year round. A stipend may be provided based on performance.
Job Summary
As an IT Security Intern, you will provide support to The Onyx IT Group and its clients in the following areas:
- System Monitoring
- System Management
- Patch Management
- Endpoint Detection and Response
- Vulnerability Analysis and Resolution
- Small Client Projects
- Risk Assessments
- Product Reviews
This position will require troubleshooting, IT networking, and IT security knowledge.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist IT teams with infrastructure automation projects
- Assist IT teams with information security emerging threats analysis and mitigation
- Develop, update, or maintain system/technical documentation for projects performed
- Follow up with internal IT team members to provide feedback and see problems through to resolution
Qualifications/Knowledge & Experience
- A rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or other related fields from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Understanding or experience with networking, network security, information security, and log data analysis from tools like SolarWinds
- Some knowledge of scripting tools like Python or Microsoft Virtual Agent
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work with large amounts of data and reporting tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – both technical and non-technical
- Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people to balance demands
